Handy College Sync
Browser extension privacy policy · Last updated 15 August 2026
Handy College Sync reads your own attendance and timetable from a Campus Connect page you are already signed in to, and copies it to your own Handy account so the Handy app can show it to you. It does not read your college password, it does not touch any other website, and there is no advertising or analytics in it.
Handy is an independent student project for Aditya University students. It is not built, endorsed, or operated by Aditya University, and it has no special access to college systems — it can only see what you can already see when you are logged in yourself.
When you visit Campus Connect (info.aec.edu.in) while signed in, the extension reads the pages your browser has already loaded and takes the following from them:
| Data | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Roll number, name, photograph | Identifies which Handy account the data belongs to, and shows you your own profile. |
| Admission number, semester, section, gender, date of birth, mobile number | Shown back to you on your Handy profile; the section is what groups you with classmates on the same timetable. |
| Attendance — classes held and attended, per subject | The percentages, projections, and leave planning that are the point of the app. |
| Timetable — periods, subjects, faculty names, rooms | Your daily schedule, the home-screen widgets, and class reminders. |
Nothing is read from any other site. The extension only runs on Campus Connect and on Handy's own pages, and it declares exactly those addresses in its manifest — your browser enforces that, not us.
Aditya Engineering College and Aditya College of Engineering & Technology work differently, because their portal cannot be read the way Campus Connect can. Those students type their college portal password into Handy's sign-in screen once.
What happens to it: it is sent over HTTPS to Handy's own server, which uses it to sign in to the college portal as you, reads your attendance and marks, and signs out again. It exists in memory for the few seconds that takes. It is not written to a database, not written to a log, and not included in any error report. Handy stores no copy of it, so there is nothing to leak later and nothing to give back if asked.
Signing in successfully is also how your Handy account is created — there is no separate Handy password to choose, and none is sent back to your device.
So that syncing can continue without asking you to type anything, the extension generates a Handy password on your own device and keeps it in the browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on that device. It is not sent anywhere except to Handy's own sign-in, and it never leaves your machine in any other direction. Removing the extension deletes it.
Captured data is sent over HTTPS to Handy's own server at handy.vijayaapardhu.dev, which writes it to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), where it is stored under your account and readable only by you and by Handy's own server functions. Firebase is operated by Google; their handling is covered by the Firebase privacy documentation.
If you have the Handy mobile app installed and have allowed notifications, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging is used to deliver them to your device.
Your data stays for as long as you keep a Handy account, because the app's purpose is to show you your record over a semester. Notification records older than 45 days are deleted automatically. Ask for deletion and the account and its data go.
Handy is for enrolled university students and is not directed at children under 13.
If what the extension collects ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. Material changes will be announced in the app rather than left here to be discovered.
